ProGyr was founded in 2008 by a group of innovative thinkers, engineers, and scientists. ProGyr’s vision/mission statement is to improve the learning and refinement of kinesthetic moves that can promote a better quality of life, sports and recreational performance, or mission-essential professional skills.
We are specifically working on maturing sound-based biofeedback technology that promotes rapid and more accurate self-learning of the mechanics of physical movement. We are developing an instantaneous auditory biofeedback system and complementary methodology that advances the state of the art of how people learn complex, functional movements.
Unlike visual feedback, auditory feedback can be processed at the same time physical actions are being performed. This is why learning how to dance with music playing, learning to play musical instruments with a metronome, or even why athletic coaches use verbal cues actually works – our bodies instantaneously respond with movement, based on aural cues.
Our aural biofeedback technology and methodology allows a participant to learn more quickly by practicing physical movement while hearing how close or far their motions are from their own ideal motions (previously recorded) and changing them through informed repetition and professional coaching, training or therapy. The approach promotes more rapid learning of the basic mechanics to a movement, increases consistent or repeat performance, and allows for a more predictive learning curve to establish reflexive performance. The applications are limitless – golf swing, jump shot, baseball bat swings, field goal kicking, walking, running stride, general and specific brain plasticity etc
